Week Six: The Last Supper, Again
Theme
Choosing Grace
Scripture
“Through him to reconcile to himself all things… making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”
- Colossians 1:20 -
Culinary Symbolism for the Meal Ahead
Lamb was central to the Passover meal, symbolizing sacrifice and redemption. This dish reflects the culmination of our Lenten journey, pointing toward resurrection.
First Reading Reflection
The cross, the table, the garden
We end where we began: at the table. But now we see it differently.
Not just as a place where betrayal happens but also a place where peace is made.
The Last Supper wasn’t the last time Jesus welcomed his followers to eat.
It was only the beginning of a new kind of meal that would carry on through us-
week after week, generation after generation.
We remember that broken bodies and spilled blood are not the end of the story.
This week, we return to the table.
Knowing what we know about ourselves and others:
that we are betrayers and betrayed,
sinners and saints,
broken and beloved.
And still, the table is prepared.
With our seat ready and place set.

Table Practice
Prepare your favorite meal—something abundant, something that feels like celebration. Before eating, take a moment to bless the table.
Go around and offer this simple blessing:
“May this table always have room for those who thought they were lost.”
End the meal by holding hands and praying for the courage to keep setting the table, even for the ones we least expect.

Writing Prompt for the Week
What table are you being called to set in this season?
